What if I never received a notice?
Texas Law requires that you update your address with the Department of Public Safety within 30 days. FBCTRA, pursuant to and mandated by Texas Law, must use the address listed with the DMV at the time of the violations, to send notice of unpaid tolls.
What if I sold my vehicle?
You must provide a copy of the bill of sale or signed odometer statement in order to have the violations removed from your name. The documentation must include the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the name and address of the purchaser.
What if I wasn’t driving the vehicle at the time of the toll violations?
Pursuant to Chapter 284 of the Texas Transportation Code, the registered owner of the vehicle is responsible for tolls and administrative costs.
What if my license plate was stolen/lost?
It is the registered owner’s responsibility to report the stolen/lost plate to law enforcement. A copy of the Police Report must be sent to us in order to have the violations against you removed.
What if I already paid?
You will need to mail a copy of the front and back of your check, or credit card receipt showing the date and the amount of the payment.
What if I have never been on the Fort Bend County Toll Road?
The Firm will review a picture of the vehicle taken at the time of the toll occurrence to confirm whether the plate was misread or not. As noted above, the registered owner is for tolls incurred by their vehicle, whether or not they were driving.
What if I was driving a rental car?
Your rental information was provided by the rental car company to the Fort Bend County Toll Road. If you had an active toll tag account, that information should have been provided to the FBCTRA when the invoice was received or before the file was sent out for collections. If this was not done you are now responsible for the violation charges.
What if I am a disabled veteran?
FBCTRA offers discounted tolls to all disabled veterans who qualify and are registered. To receive the discount the system must be able to properly identify the plate through the use of an approved toll tag. You will be responsible for all toll violations until your plate is approved and registered on your toll tag account.
What if my ex-spouse was assigned the vehicle in our divorce decree?
You must provide a copy of the divorce decree awarding the vehicle to the ex-spouse, showing he/she was given the vehicle, or is responsible for debts incurred by the vehicle, before the tolls were incurred.
